Tour Overview
Day 1: Pick-up at Makassar Airport and Transfer to Toraja
Our tour guide will pick you up at Makassar Airport and accompany you on the journey to Toraja. Along the way, you will enjoy scenic views of mountains, the sea, and traditional Sulawesi houses. You will also have opportunities to stop for photos.
In the afternoon, before entering the Toraja area, you will stop at a rest area facing “Erotic Mountain”. Here you can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea before continuing the trip to Toraja. Arrive in Toraja in the afternoon and stay overnight at Santai Toraja Hotel.
Day 2: Toraja Tour
After breakfast at the hotel, your guide will accompany you to explore the beauty of Toraja. You will visit Ke’te Kesu Tourist Village, where you can see traditional Toraja houses and rice barns that are hundreds of years old with bamboo roofs. You will also see hanging graves on rock cliffs and ancient statues made hundreds of years ago.
After that, you will visit Londa Tourist Village, which features cave burials and is very interesting to explore. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant.
After lunch, you will visit Lemo Tourist Village to see the “Stone Graves”. Before returning to the hotel, you will visit the Jesus Statue in Burake. Return to the hotel in the afternoon and stay overnight at Santai Toraja Hotel.
Day 3: Toraja Tour
After breakfast, you will continue visiting several other tourist villages in Toraja. You will visit the buffalo market, one of Toraja’s tourism icons, where buffalo prices can reach hundreds of millions of rupiah and are considered among the most expensive buffalo in the world.
You may also have the opportunity to attend a traditional funeral ceremony known as “Rambu Solo’”. However, this ceremony is not guaranteed to be available every day.
Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. After lunch, you will visit the megalithic site in Kalimbuang and see baby graves inside trees. You will also enjoy beautiful mountain views.
All cultural objects in Toraja, from traditional houses and carvings to burial sites, have their own meanings and philosophy. Therefore, local guides play an important role in explaining them to visitors. Return to Santai Toraja Hotel in the afternoon.
Day 4: Transfer Back from Toraja to Makassar
