Upon arrival at Makassar Airport, your guide will greet you and begin the journey to Sengkang. Along the way, you will be treated to scenic views of lush rice fields and mountain ranges, with plenty of opportunities for photo stops. You will also see the distinct architecture of the "Bugis" traditional houses, belonging to one of the major ethnic groups in South Sulawesi.
Arriving in Sengkang in the late afternoon, you will head directly to a small river port to board a traditional canoe. As you navigate towards Lake Tempe, you can observe the daily activities of the local riverside community. At the lake, you will be welcomed at a floating house with tea or coffee and traditional snacks, enjoying the serene atmosphere. Overnight in Sengkang.
After breakfast, visit a silk-weaving village near the town center. Sengkang is famous as Indonesia’s "Silk City," and you will witness the intricate traditional weaving process performed by local artisans.
Afterward, the journey continues toward Toraja. Before reaching your destination, we will stop at a rest area facing the famous "Erotic Mountain" (Buntu Kabobong), where you can enjoy the view over a cup of coffee or tea. You will arrive in Rantepao in the late afternoon for your overnight stay.
Your guide will pick you up for a visit to the Kete Kesu traditional village. Here, you will see ancestral houses (Tongkonan) and rice barns with elaborate bamboo roofs, as well as ancient hanging graves. The tour continues to Lemo, a burial cliff featuring Tau-Tau (wooden effigies of the deceased).
Note: Depending on the local schedule, you may have the opportunity to attend a traditional funeral ceremony (attendance cannot be guaranteed).
After lunch at a local restaurant, you will visit the baby graves nestled inside living trees. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon.
After breakfast, explore the Bolu Local Market, a vibrant hub where locals trade buffaloes, pigs, and various local produce. Next, you will visit Londa, a natural limestone cave used as a burial site.
Following lunch, the trip continues to Bori village to see the ancient megaliths (menhirs) erected during funeral rituals. Before returning to the hotel, you will head to Batutumonga to enjoy breathtaking panoramic views. You can opt for a light trek (approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour) through the highlands. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon.
Depart from Toraja for the return journey to Makassar Airport for your flight to the next destination.
